Sweatlist: Work out jams

Date:

SWEATLIST 2021

Everyone has a song. A song for working out, playing sports, doing homework or even driving. The following playlist, composed by Sweat’s writers, editors and designers contains some of the best songs to do all of those activities to. It’s got it all: Hard rock, hip-hop and a little Whitney Houston. So grab your weights or your pen, get going on your work and enjoy Sweat 2021’s ‘Sweatlist’.

1. I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY, Whitney Houston | Chosen by Erin Leblanc

I think that songs you can sing along to are the best for working out. Eighties dance music combines belting vocals and funky beats that are perfect for fast paced exercise. I’m a big fan of making workouts fun, and playing loud music and dancing and singing along is a great way to have fun while burning calories.

2. PHYSICAL, Dua Lipa | Chosen by Julia Alevato

It was really hard for me to choose a song, and even though I have a five-hour workout playlist, I don’t work out. But for some weird reason, this song makes me want to join a spinning class, so I hope you feel the same way!

3. KICKSTART MY HEART, Mötley Crüe | Chosen by Nicholas Seles

When I think of working out, I think of heart-pounding 80’s rock and very few bands come to mind like Mötley Crüe does. It revs up and kicks off with Mick Mars’ heavy guitar riffs and backed by Vince Neil’s unrivaled vocals. It makes me want to run as fast and far as I can for the entirety of the track!

4. RANGE BROTHERS, Baby Keem ft. Kendrick Lamar | Chosen by Christian Collington

The beat switches and shifts in the cadences and flows of Baby Keem and Kendrick gets me pumped. Hearing Kendrick say “top of the morning” so many times gets my game face on in the morning.

5. INDUSTRY BABY, Lil Nas X | Chosen by Anna De Santanna

I think a workout song is not supposed to be “meaningful” – just fun. Something you can listen to for hours and don’t need to think, just feel. ‘Industry Baby’ is perfect for workouts because of the nice rhythm and lyrics that make you want to scream at the top of your lungs.

6. BABY MAMA, Skriptonit & Райда | Chosen by Sofiia Rusyn

I’m a big fan of modern Eastern European songs, so this is one of the most popular ones that you can definitely use in your playlist. I don’t have a specific sports playlist so I just love to workout to songs I feel like I want to listen to.

7. F.E.E.L. G.O.O.D., R5 | Chosen by Sierra MacPherson

This is a great song to work out to because it really is a “feel good” song and it motivates me even when I don’t want to keep going. The beat is great for any kind of exercise, and I have a lot of similar-sounding songs on my gym playlist.

8. NEED TO KNOW, Doja Cat | Chosen by Cassandra Spurrell

I chose this because it’s such a feel good song. I can play it at any time of the day and feel the same about it, and I feel like I could never get tired of listening to it.

9. CINDERELLA MAN, Eminem | Chosen by Garrett Thomson

Cinderella man is a song that from the moment I listened to it, had me ready to run through a wall. I first started listening to it before my hockey games and I still do and it became my good luck song that I HAVE to listen too before a game. Eminem has always been my favourite rapper and on top of his song “Not Afraid”, “Cinderella Man” is my favourite song of his. When I workout I listen to it. I highly recommend it for any workout playlist, it will make every single weight in the gym feel like it’s five pounds.

10. THE WORKOUT PLAN, Kanye West | Chosen by Cassandra McCalla

I am a huge hip hop fan and this is one of my favorite Kanye West songs. I love the energy and the way the violin is playing as the main beat. It always makes me feel upbeat and ready to start my day.

11. ARE YOU READY, Karsu | Chosen by Nur Dogan

While every morning I am rushing to the college, I came across Karsu’s song a few times. Then, I thought that this might be the best song in my workout playlist. Now, when I hear the “Are you ready” song, I feel I should run.

12. DIRTY DEEDS DONE DIRT CHEAP, AC/DC | Chosen by Daniel Lonic

I first heard this song when I was a youngling, hearing my dad howl along to the lyrics. It was not until I got some sense in me that I understood his admiration. I dare ever skip this song whenever it pops up. Whether you’re working out, cleaning, or at the nine-to-five, this song is bound to leave you banging your feet and swinging your head to this contagious beat.

13. WHENEVER WHEREVER, Shakira | Chosen by Ayesha Raizada

She’s my favourite singer and I like the meaning of her name. Shakira means “Grateful”. I’m always grateful for everything in my life and I love this track, it’s one of my favourite songs. I always like to play this song whenever my husband and I go for long drives.

14. TRIPPIDY TRAP, Rushy | Chosen by Natalia Vasyliuk

Love the beat. My best friend showed me this song, when we were getting ready for my birthday celebration. I’ve never listened to any of his songs before, but this one hypes me up whenever I hear it. Nevermind the lyrics.

15. 1 TRAIN, ASAP Rocky | Chosen by Manan Nanjiawan

The lyrics of this song have always made me push myself every time I work out. The motivation and the energy that this song brings to me is just something else.

16. THE ART OF LOVE, Lit Lords | Chosen by Eli Ridder

When the euphoria of upbeat house music mixes with the aggressively bass-inducing nature of trap, it creates the ultimate positive hype track to blast into my ears and get the blood flowing for my daily strenuous workout of the five-minute walk to school.
